In the heart of the Kyzyl Kum desert, Zéravshan is a city surprisingly modern and well equipped. The reason is simple: it is in the nearby mountains near the village of Muratau, discovered in the 1960 s of large gold deposits. Ordinary prisoners of law were mobilized to bring sand to the town of Zéravshan. The wealth of this modern oasis attracts Uzbeks from across the country seeking higher salaries than elsewhere. Despite this, the city remains a bland set of ternes buildings in the middle of the desert, burning in summer and icy in winter. No known tourist curiosity, except for those who love precious minerals and metals, who will find next to the town hall a hotel and museum depicting the history of the city and presenting the various discoveries in recent years.
