About an hour from Bubaque by motorized pirogue, this sacred island is reserved for women's initiation rites. Find out if you have permission to go there. If you do, bring offerings for both the village chief (Oronho) and the priestess (okinka). You can offer them palm wine, brandy or tobacco, for example. Like other islands in the archipelago, this little piece of land with its luxuriant vegetation is inhabited by venomous snakes such as vipers, cobras and the dangerous mambas, known here as "cacuba".
