Created in 1905, Pita is a city without much charm that constitutes a stage between Dalaba and Labé. It is however the starting point of many interesting excursions, such as the waterfalls of Kambadaga and Kinkon, and a little further on the cliffs of Doucky or the village of Aïnguel and its surroundings. It is also one of the high places of traditional cotton weaving. Pita and especially Timbi Madina, one of its sub-prefectures, are very famous for their production of the potato called "belle de Guinée". The Kinkon hydroelectric dam, built by the Chinese in 1966, still supplies power to the major cities in the area
