Created in 1292, this city is the largest in the region. Although recently its historic district has been renovated to turn to tourism, aware of its history Nowy Sącz has experienced numerous destruction, especially during World War II, which makes it far from still possessing a rich architectural heritage. Nevertheless, it retains its charm of medieval city, famous for its painting school whose achievements can be admired in Krakow's Wawel. A cultural stage, Nowy Sącz is also the starting point for excursions in the massif of Beskidy Sądecki, lower than the Tatras, but no less beautiful.
