This 80 km2 chain of hills, 20 km east of Kielce, which forms the whole of this nature park created in 1921, is almost entirely covered by superb forests, mainly of fir and beech. Here you can enjoy interesting walks in unspoilt natural surroundings, as well as a number of cultural stops. Two mountains dominate the park, which today covers 7,626 ha: Łysica (612 m) and Łysa Góra (595 m). It is notably home to the Benedictine abbey of Holy Cross on the crest of Łysa Góra. It is believed that it was here that The Sermons of Holy Cross, the oldest text in Polish script, was written.
