The small village of Bobolice is crowned by a medieval castle built by Casimir the Great in the 14th century, whose romantic silhouette stands imposingly on a rocky spur in the middle of a bucolic landscape. In the 19th century, an immense treasure trove was discovered in tunnels at the foot of the edifice. Since then, an urban legend of treasure hunters from all over Europe has made it the site of an even greater hoard, still hidden in the tunnels linking Bobolice Castle to Mirów Castle. After extensive renovation work at the turn of the century, the castle reopened its doors and, superbly restored, can be visited from April to October.
