Ahuachapán is a big town alanguie some pretty vestiges of the colonial era that deserve a little shot of paint (at least!) to rediscover their earliest appearance. There is not much to do, but Guatemala is not far away (indeed the first city that crosses from neighbouring countries) and the ausoles (geysers) in the surrounding area allow to familiarise themselves with a little known but promising energy: geothermal. Colourful murals, a thermal and geothermal paradise, a rich cultural and religious heritage, a peaceful and warm population… this is the way to sum up Ahuachapán, a town furthest away from the western region (100 km from San Salvador) at the doors of Guatemala.
