You'll have to cross the barren plains of Finnmark, threading long straights through birch forests and tundra, and encountering a few reindeer along the way, before arriving in Karasjok. Located some 20 km from Finland, this small town of around 3,000 inhabitants is the capital of the Saami, and home to the Saami Parliament and the Saami Artists' Centre. Its main activity remains reindeer herding. The climate in Karasjok is fairly continental, with cold, harsh winters and relatively pleasant summers. A beautiful place, lost in the middle of the wilderness, a dream come true.
