FRETEX KIRKEVEIEN

Braderie brocante et puce

Fretex is a chain of 2nd hand shops that is actually owned by the Salvation Army of Norway, with a large thrift shop that is almost as clean as a new shop! It's hard to leave empty-handed! It is located near Majorstua, right next to a bookstore. If you're lucky, you'll be able to find some vintage thrift shops, super vintage cups that are usually quite expensive, like Porsgrunn porcelain, Royal Copenhagen, and all the typical Norwegian ceramic patterns that are quite sought after by antique dealers and enthusiasts!

DAVID ANDERSEN

Jewelry

This jeweller sells not only expensive "stones" but also beautiful, purely designed silver and gold jewellery that is almost affordable. There is also beautiful Scandinavian silverware. Sometimes there are superb exhibitions of precious knives. It is also possible to draw your own model of rings, necklace, bracelet, brooch or earrings to have it made, original! Finally, draw yourself or have a professional draw it, because it is not easy to represent in 3D what you have in your head sometimes! To your ideas!

GRÜNERLØKKA GARN

Fabrics haberdashery and wool

A great little wool store as we like them! You will find already knitted items for you or your loved ones, but also obviously (and especially) all kinds of wool! They also sell knitting needles, hooks, Norwegian patterns and some haberdashery. Local wool well highlighted, available in several thicknesses. They also have among others the Manos del Uruguay if you prefer softer wool, because it is true that sometimes Norwegian wool stings a bit! One of the many good haberdashers in Oslo!

EVOMAR

Fair trade fashion and decoration

Long live Mexico! A very small shop in a very small street for a big idea and a big heart... Evomar! Opened in June 2021 by Maria, a Mexican, this place named after her mother was conceived by a woman for women: all the clothes and accessories offered are made in Mexico by women, paid at a fair price, and sent to Maria once or twice a year. Jewelry, bags, belts, shirts with floral patterns, there are very beautiful things! You can even drink an organic hot chocolate there! A great find really!

One of the brand's shops located near the station, to return from his trip with souvenirs made in Norway. Wool sweaters, varied handicraft, the brands presented are all Norwegian and you will find most of the typical products. The choice is large and it's good, everyone will find something to please themselves, or gift ideas to bring back. The prices remain Norwegian and the quality to be controlled. For textiles, crockery, utensils, skins and woods, it is better to go to a craft shop.

TRONSMO

Bookshop

If there were to be only one bookstore left in Norway, it would undoubtedly be this one. It displays its colours loud and clear with its postcards, magnets, badges and of course its books: anti-Bush, against homophobia, for the defence of human rights. Some French books are sold and a section is dedicated to gay and lesbian literature. The whole is offbeat, the humour is sometimes acidic but very funny! A good address for readers who wish to discover Norwegian literature.

Think to stop there if you go to Bygdøy to see museums to avoid you to go back there because it's a bit far from the city center by foot, so not every day!

UFF VINTAGE

Thrift shop

A thrift store yes, but vintage! Very large choice of clothes, shoes, and accessories, in all states and for all budgets. Really one of our favorite addresses ! Be careful, if you like these places, you might have a good time there. It can also be a great opportunity to find a Norwegian wool sweater for much cheaper than if it was new (about 300 euros new against 45 euros at UFF). Part of the proceeds are donated to charity (€320,000 in 2019) every year.
