Olivia is a chain of Italian restaurants in Oslo. The four restaurants are almost identical inside, but our favorite is undoubtedly the one at Aker Brygge. The food is very good, with a wide choice of pizzas (red or white), pastas and antipasti, as well as a fine menu of mixed dishes. As for the service and, above all, the restaurant's location, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the low prices! A good idea for the budget, because as we know in Oslo, it's not always easy to eat for cheap!

An exquisite restaurant hidden in a recess of the street, with a small terrace at the front. This French restaurant offers typical dishes prepared in the greatest tradition, and a wine list selected with particular care. The interior is all stone and wood, and the decoration, made of wine boxes, gives a modern rustic atmosphere. A varied and satisfying choice of starters, main courses and desserts. Also many vegetarian options. An exceptional address.

One of the oldest restaurants in Oslo, dating from the 18th century. The interior is typically Norwegian: huge fireplace, wood and beams, candles on the tables. A superb setting and a smiling and attentive team. At lunchtime, typical Norwegian dishes, such as a slice of bread with shrimp salad with mayonnaise on top, fish soup with organic mussels or avocado toast. In the evening, meat and fish dishes. Kaffistova is one of the best addresses in Oslo, and for good reason it is one of the oldest! Indeed, the café opened in 1901 in the Norwegian capital. Every day Kaffistova offers fresh products from local production and traditional dishes. On the menu, salmon, reindeer, meatballs and a wide choice of side dishes. The setting is bright, modern, spacious and, above all, well located, as it is only a stone's throw from the city centre. Still bearing the name of its former life (former steamship) and paying homage to that era in its decoration, Louise is a very pleasant, relaxed, friendly and well-made place. The view is magnificent - located in the former construction site of Aker Mek - the fjord, the boats and the fortress of Akershus are offered to your eyes while your taste buds discover varied menus mixing exoticism and traditional Norwegian cuisine. A chic and rather expensive place, with a subdued atmosphere but where you can eat very well.

The Bakkekroen is an old restaurant from 1936, typically Norwegian. The style of the interior decoration has not changed for 20 years: heavy curtains and red tablecloths that match the wrought iron lamps. The menu includes steak au poivre, veal escalope, halibut and plaice. For dessert, homemade ice cream. On weekdays, the menu offers mushroom soup for about 100 kroner, followed by the famous Norwegian dish får-i-kål, a kind of fragrant Norwegian sauerkraut. The coffee is traditionally accompanied by an egg yolk liqueur.

On a street parallel to Avenue Karl-Johan, it is a theme formula, both a campaign chip (especially for its decoration which abounds in strange objects hung everywhere), restaurant, pub and piano-bar. You can also buy items that have become rare nowadays, such as mustache wax or candy sugar. Hot dishes and a day menu as simple as a salad grill, but also specialities such as dried meat and smoked fish.

In the heart of the Oslo Alps, this large log cabin, blackened by the tar plaster as much as by time, dates from 1892. The roof is spiked with dragon heads that seem to stand guard. Do as everyone else does and have a snack on the terrace or, if the weather is rainy, in the pretty cafeteria, you'll have a feeling of feasting in Viking times! The more athletic can take the metro back to Holmenkollen station, cutting the loop of its route on foot through the Marka forest.

One of Norway's best chefs, Bent Stiansen (Bocuse d'or in Lyon in 1993), has opened his own restaurant in a 17th century rococo house. This was the home of King Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve's representative from 1664 to 1679. Staatholdergaarden is worth a visit in itself. During the renovation from 1985 to 1990 a beautiful stucco ceiling was found. The staff explain in a calm voice the menu items and the list of excellent wines. Great dishes prepared daily according to fresh market products.

A restaurant that seemed a bit expensive but still very good. Interesting culinary proposals, such as crab croquettes with a shellfish emulsion or smoked salmon rillettes with cabbage purée as a starter. For the main course, we are pleasantly surprised too, with halibut with beetroot or duck confit with pumpkin. The wine list is diversified. We would like to have cheese cake with raspberry coulis or baked apples with caramel sauce, pancakes and cardamom ice cream!

Cloister atmosphere then, as its name indicates, almost Gregorian. The building dates from 1899 and the restaurant was opened in 1992. In the basement, impeccable decoration with a myriad of candles, barrels and bottles of wine! Another very good value for money, fish specialities but also very tasty reindeer meat. 3, 5 and 7 course menus which are very nicely presented on the plate and very good! The products follow the changing seasons. The wine list is extensive. Reservation recommended.

This restaurant, which forms the southern tip of the Aker Brygge shopping mall, is a pearl in the fjord! On the menu, fish of course. In winter, a large fireplace lights up the room, and in summer, a beautiful terrace opens onto the sunny fjord. The large windows protect from the sea winds. Almost every table is near a window. Lobsters play in an aquarium near the entrance. The menu does not make special reference to the Lofoten Islands. The fish dishes are accompanied by mushrooms, ratatouille, pasta or artichokes.

In old Oslo, "Lompa" for friends, it is the brownest of the "brown cafés" with an "atmosphere, atmosphere", as Arletty would have said. Local cuisine and Pigalle club on the floor. The dishes are sophisticated, tasty and really well presented. For starters, homemade gravlaks, whale carpaccio or cheese croquettes. For the main courses, quite a few meat proposals, and a vegan one, a bit disappointing, a plate of quinoa with vegetables. The desserts on the other hand are fabulous, like the canole with multe cream, this Nordic berry!

Here we aim for the "top of the top", one of the best restaurants in Oslo. The cuisine brings a fusion of Norwegian dishes revisited in a postmodern fashion and exotic touches delicately spicing up the menu. The service as well as the food is obviously of the highest quality, nothing to complain about on the performances. Needless to say, you'd better have a full purse before entering, but for the quality, it's definitely worth it. Some restaurants in Norway are much more expensive for less tasty meals!

People's is a bar-restaurant with an interesting soviet design. The service is, for once in Oslo, always smiling, and the staff really tries to please its customers. Mexican food and burgers are in the spotlight, and excellent tacos. At lunchtime, slightly cheaper dishes are offered. A good choice of beers on draught (9 different ones) and even cider on draught. An address all the more pleasant as it is located on a vast square preserved from the traffic. Not great gastronomy, but a good option all the same!

A good sushi restaurant, the first one to open in the nice neighborhood of Grønland, and therefore all the more worthwhile to have lunch there as it is frequented by many locals. It is possible to order take-away. Chefs who know what they are doing, they perpetuate the family tradition and reuse the recipes of their grandparents! If you can't necessarily travel to Japan these days, you can at least go to LeMeo Sushi and have a great time.

Two options for this pizza chain: Italian or gourmet. That is to say the classic or the exotic! If the prices seem excessive, they are in fact rather correct for the capital! It is especially the number of pizzas on the menu that surprises with 46 proposals in all, including several vegetarian options. They also serve calzone. For children, you can order smaller pizzas for 95 NOK. Ice cream is offered for dessert. The quality of the pizzas makes it one of the locals' favorite pizzerias.

Welcome to the most French of Oslo's restaurants! It's almost like being in Paris, in a local brasserie (decoration, service and French atmosphere). Benjamin is certainly the best French restaurant in town. Moreover, many locals will recommend it to you. On the menu, tarts flambées, fondues, cheeses, charcuterie... the place is perfect for those nostalgic for the country or those who live far from France and its great cuisine. Each dish will be pleasantly washed down with one of the good wines on the menu!

Galleriet is a cosy place where you can come for a drink, a meal in the morning or in the evening. Three friends are behind this beautiful address that opened in 2012 in the fashionable but not too fashionable St. Hanshaugen district. A bit posh and old with its wooden houses and parks. The interior is pleasant, warm and relaxed. Exposed bricks, beams, paintings and friendly service. At lunchtime, various dishes are served à la carte, and after 6pm, it's time for dinner. The dishes are copious and well presented. The house serves organic wines, but not only! In short, we love it!
