Certainly the most important archaeological site of the region, discovered in 1934 by Theodore Monod! On the track that leads to Oualata, about 40 km from Tichit, Aghrijit is the very example of the numerous villages that sheltered the population three to four millennia ago. The excavations undertaken have made it possible to date the city to 1500 years before our era. On a rocky promontory, at the top of a stone staircase, hundreds of square meters of foundations of old sandstone buildings are discovered. Aghrijit was a very structured city, with alleys and squares, having welcomed up to 3 000 inhabitants at the time of its splendor!
