According to some, the origins of the name are due to the nostalgia of an Italian who lived in the vicinity, the beaches reminded him of those of Naples. The Burmese meaning is just as evocative: Ngapali is said to mean "fish with a smile". On the Burmese coasts, fish products are dried in the sun... And you can smell it! In Ngapali, the beaches are of white sand, bordered by coconut palms. Known to be the most beautiful in Burma, getting here is not so easy. The journey by the "road", in bad condition, is tiring. Unless you choose to fly, you have to stay at least three days in Ngapali to get over it. Ngapali's main beach is several kilometres long. To the north and south of the village, you can visit the villages that live peacefully on fish products, the famous sun-dried fish and shrimps, coconut and rice cultivation. Apart from that, idleness and sea bathing!
