Pindaya attracts many travellers. Located about 50 km north of Kalaw and 1,183 m above sea level, this small, peaceful village is built around the artificial lake surrounded by old banyan trees. Every five days, Pindaya hosts the lively and colourful rotating market. On the other days of the week, activity slows down noticeably. The other interest of the village is its museum of Buddhist statuary, set up in a natural cave: the largest in Burma. A true sanctuary of pilgrimage. Finally, the discovery of the artisanal activity of Pindaya: the workshops of manufacture of the famous umbrellas of Pindaya. Here live the Danu people, descendants of archers who distinguished themselves by their courage. In the dry season, the track to get to Pindaya is a patchwork of cultivated land and red soil dotted with the soft green touches of giant avocado trees.
