Although of great beauty, the lake is more exploited for its fish than for its tourist interests. However, there are very beautiful landscapes from the road, including giant salamander fields and the marshes of the Luapula River between Kasanka and Bangweulu Lake. The village of Lubwe also deserves a stop. Here is the traditional Kwanga Ceremony of the Ngumbo tribe in October.Bangweulu's fisheries are the largest in Zambia, with 57 000 tons of catches per year, mostly de, tigres and yellow perch. However, the fishing industry is not very developed and many fishermen are forced to trade their catches against necessities. Located on the west shore of the lake, about 10 km from the Route road in Serenje, nine in 2013, Samfya is the main city of the region, as a crossroads for trade and communications. It is a rather messy city that developed through fishing in the 1950 s. A beautiful white sandy beach is located at the exit of the city, but the lake is populated with crocodiles. There are a few possibilities for accommodation in Samfya and on the shores of the lake. Those who are interested in the local way of life and with camping equipment will be able to borrow the boat operated by the corporation of the postal services carrying out shuttles between the mainland and the main islands of the lake: Mbabala, Cishi and Chilubi.
