45 km south of Pakse, near Route 13. During the French colonial era, merchant ships coming from Cambodia stopped at Ban Tomo. Today, one can visit the ruins of a Khmer temple dating from the beginning of the 10th century, contemporary of Vat Phou, named Uo Moung. The white building in the middle of the site houses a bronze Buddha in the Sukhothai style. One of its features is a lingam with two carved faces, which is quite rare. This sleeping site in the depths of the forest is of great interest and offers the remains of a vanished civilization. Access is not very convenient, however. The entrance to the site costs 10,000 kips. It is open from 8am to 4pm.
