Well-known French restaurant run by Jean Pierre for over 30 years. The upstairs is a little brighter than the first floor, which nevertheless boasts a pleasant shaded terrace. The menu includes salads, terrines, pizzas, gratins, soups, soufflés, grilled meats, fish and sauces. Don't forget to come early for a table on the famous outdoor terrace, which is often packed, especially for the daily lunch menu, which offers excellent value for money. Vientiane's best deal.

With its teak tables and imitation leather armchairs, the air-conditioned room is pleasant; second room upstairs. You can order directly at the counter: tasty pastries (cookie, muffin, scone, brownie...), copious quiches, club-sandwiches, lasagnes, salads... (prepared in advance). For breakfast, it will be bagel, muesli-yaourt-fruits or eggs-bacon. We like hot drinks: latte, cappuccino, espresso, iced or hot tea... A real American-style coffee.

The Taj Mahal's open-air dining room is not eye-catching with its plastic chairs and basic furnishings, without air conditioning. However, this halal certified restaurant has a very good reputation. It offers quality North Indian cuisine with various curries, good naans and byrianis. Many vegetarian options on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, the service is efficient and friendly. If it is not a palace, this small gargote remains very nice for lunch.

Khop Chai Deu is a trendy place where locals, expatriates and tourists mix. The restaurant, spread over several floors, has a pleasant terrace overlooking the street. The modern setting is cosy. The menu is complete - universal dishes (grilled meats, pastas, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches), Lao specialties, Indian cuisine, vegetarian options - and the result is quite satisfactory for a reasonable price. In the evening, concerts are regularly organized. Very attentive reception. A bar-restaurant not to be missed in Vientiane!

Set under a large aluminium roof, this sheltered restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a small price. Held by a lovely family, it serves ten simple dishes (spicy salad, fried fried vegetables, chicken, sticky…) but really tasty in a setting (the constantly lit TV shows music clips in the loop). Healthy food based on fresh products; all sprinkled with a Lao beer.

Installed in a former colonial villa since 1994, the place is superb. On the menu is typical Lao cuisine but adapted to western palates. The menus are a good way to taste several specialties. The à la carte dishes are more copious. Interesting wine list. Professional and friendly staff. The clientele is often made up of tourist groups. Every evening there is a traditional dance show. The prices are certainly a little higher than elsewhere, but it's a good night out.

Central location for this small restaurant frequented by the visitors and tourists. A few tables are installed in the shade in a garden surrounded by grillage. Kitchen fairly ordinary, but correct. Western breakfasts. Quiet and friendly.

In a superb renovated French colonial house dating from the 1930s and surrounded by a garden planted with trees, Pino, the Italian chef, will welcome you and serve you delicious, authentic Italian cuisine made with high-quality ingredients, such as his homemade pasta. A fine list of Italian wines. All this with Italian music and opera as a background, of course. The service is excellent. This is the perfect restaurant to rediscover the flavors of Italian gastronomy.

Close to downtown, here's an exquisite address, created by a talented French team, offering culinary flavors from different horizons. In a very pleasant setting, you'll appreciate the balance between flavors that are bursting with inventiveness and spices, such as the "French-Thai" beef filet, the Hokkaido scallops or the Mexican assortment. The service is top-notch and pleasant. A vegetarian/vegan menu is also available. In Vientiane, Métisse is a highly recommended gastronomic stop.

The menu is well stocked, with other specialties such as salads, croque-monsieur and waffles. Note: vegetarian and vegan options, as well as gluten-free crepes. Ideal for a lunch or gourmet break. The establishment is a bit out of the way, but you can take advantage of it to discover this neighborhood, which is little known by tourists.
