This city, whose name means "the White", is still little tourist. Built in stone, the houses are painted with different colors and vivid colors. The Bakil tribes living around Al-Baydan are renowned, as are the Baydani themselves, for their courage and sense of justice. These tribes, including Al-Humaikani and their Sheikh Abdul Qawi, were involved with the tribes of the Yaffa, Abyan and Lahdj regions against the British who occupied the South. Without heavy weapons, they had the idea of night climbing in the mountains of hundreds of donkeys wearing a lantern in the neck. The English believed in the creation of cannons and renoncèrent to reduce these strong places. The current Sheikh, Salem Abdul Qaoui, now manages with skill and discretion the tribal life of Al-Humaikani, a proud but non-warlike tribe.
