The Augsburg Synagogue is the work of Heinrich Lömpel and Fritz Landauer, two masters of Art Nouveau.

The Augsburg Synagogue is the work of Heinrich Lömpel and Fritz Landauer, two masters of Art Nouveau. It was built during the First World War and burned, looted and damaged during the infamous Kristallnacht. But it is one of the few synagogues in Germany that was not completely destroyed and has survived to the present day. The reconstruction work was only completed in 1985. Jewish life and worship in Augsburg in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries is on display in the Jüdisches Museum.
