The Hohes Schloss has watched over the town of Füssen since the Middle Ages. The trompe l'oeil on its façade is unique.

The Hohes Schloss (literally High Castle) has watched over Füssen since the 13th century, although its current appearance is due to Prince-Bishop Friedrich von Zollern, who was in office between 1486 and 1505. Its facades, painted with trompe l'oeil to simulate window frames and oriel windows, are absolutely unique. The Bavarian State Gallery's late-Gothic works of art in the former residence of the prince-bishops provide an extraordinary insight into the art of the 15th and 16th centuries in the Bavarian Allgäu and Swabian regions.
