The art of hospitality: at Casa Babi, it feels like home

Right in the centre of Vilankulo, a short sandy distance from the central market, Sabrina and Denis have built a real cosy nest. "Casa Babi" is above all the art of hospitality, advice and kindness. Just like in a friend's home.
A five-kilometre window overlooking the Indian Ocean, the coastal town offers one of the most beautiful views in the country. It is on this authentic strip of land that Denis and Sabrina arrived. After dozens of dives across the globe, the French couple discovered Mozambique.

The house and the ocean

Let's go inside. Once past the gate, we leave the pretty vegetable garden on our left. We will harvest the fruits on the restaurant side, in beautiful plates with Italian-French-Mozambican flavours. The main house, tastefully decorated, is open to the terrace, the garden and the ocean. Casa Babi has its feet in the water.
On the garden side, there is a round family house. Two bedrooms, a kitchen, a large living room. And then the five bedrooms overlook the Indian Ocean. Every morning, you wake up with a spectacular sunrise on the horizon that lights up the blue and white monochrome of the sandbanks and the wooden hulls of the boats. After a delicious and hearty breakfast, we descend to the beach by the small wooden stairs at the bottom of the garden. Certainly one of the richest moments of a trip to Mozambique: the return from fishing in Vilankulo. The traditional Dhows have thrown the ink and the fishermen deposit their fish on the sand. Women are all around, basins in hand. And the negotiations begin.

Committed divers

Off the coast of Vilankulo, Two Mile Reef concentrates eight spots. No less than 75% of the species in the Indian Ocean have been recorded there. The clarity of the water offers good visibility and lets the sunlight illuminate the scenery. "When we did our first dive in Bazaruto, we said to ourselves, 'This is the place' and it's done. Today, Casa Babi is the warmest guesthouse in town and Odyssea Dive one of the best and most respectful dive centers in the country Odyssey Dive.
Strong environmental advocates committed to the protection of national parks. They never stop fighting for conservation, especially for the Bazaruto Archipelago, the first territory to be proclaimed a National Park since 1989. First of all to protect dugongs, sea turtles, and of course their habitats: the coral reefs. But also the vegetation of its five islands, Bazaruto, Santa Carolina, Benguerra, Bangué, and Magaruque
