Several songs by Cesaria Evora, a native of the island, refer to it. It is a pleasant fishing village located on the road to Baia das Gatas (1 hour walk). About 2,000 people live here and there are many children. If you want to meet some of the fishermen and learn about their way of life, you might be able to go out to sea with them and end the evening with some good grilled fish. Today, the beach is more and more popular with kite surfers. The sea is agitated, be careful with the current. There is a nice little creperie on the beach, Chez Zoé.
