Founded in 750 according to the written testimony of a relative of Saint Odile, this delightful winegrowing town owes its fame to the Grand Cru Winzenberg, which spreads over a granitic terroir renowned for its exceptional south-east sunshine. Its vines produce excellent Rieslings, Gewurztraminers and other Pinot Gris. In Blienschwiller, one can admire a chapel (probably built in the 12th century) dedicated to Saint Erasmus, who is supposed to cure stomach aches. There are also remains of water pipes from the Gallo-Roman period, a fountain (1850) and some very nice houses along the Route du Vin and the Route du Hohwarth.
