A superb botanical garden in Santa Maria, housing most of the varieties of plants and trees of Cape Verde.

Who would have expected to find such a green botanical garden on this arid island? Spanning just a few hectares, the garden is home to most of the archipelago's plant and tree species. It is also a sanctuary for abused animals such as the donkey Joana, who was the first to be rescued. Try your hand at the meditation labyrinth, which is very relaxing despite the skepticism at first.
