Nestling in the Drôme valley (a tributary of the Vire), Balleroy - which became Balleroy-sur-Drôme in 2016 - is a delightful commune in the heart of the Bessin region, located around 15 kilometres south-west of Bayeux and a stone's throw from the forest of Cerisy. Famous, essentially, for its 17th century castle, designed by the architect François Mansart (1598-1666), it also boasts a beautiful church, built in 1650. In 1970, the American press magnate, Malcolm Forbes, acquired the Château de Balleroy and set up an unusual balloon and hot-air balloon museum... To be visited before or after the castle and its park.
