This is a charming little town on the Bavarian border, beautifully situated in the foothills of the Untersberg. The peaceful Grossgmain is only about 20 km south of Salzburg. It is a pleasant, green holiday resort, best known for its magnificent open-air museum (Freilichtmuseum), which attracts families who enjoy wandering between old houses. There is a lot of accommodation in this place, in different categories, and some good restaurants. The famous Austrian singer, actress and presenter Lolita (1931-2010) retired to Grossgmain at the end of her life.
