Located 26 km southeast of Linz, Enns, with a population of 12,000, is the oldest town in Austria, having been granted the first Austrian city charter as early as 1212. It is known for its quality of life, which is coveted by many city dwellers. It is also the first "Cittaslow" city in Austria. It is located on the left bank of the Enns River and has a distinctive 60-metre high tower. From May to October you can take a guided tour of the St. Lawrence Basilica. Founded on the site of a temple of the ancient Roman city of Lauriacum. The two largest oil paintings in Upper Austria, dating from 1711 and 1726, can be seen here.
