On accède à Siglufordur par de longs tunnels ce qui confère au village un sentiment d'isolement. Les maisons typiques donnent une atmosphère très spéciale, notamment les façades colorées du musée du hareng.
Les paysages sont très beaux, succession de vallées et montagnes.
