Very well-equipped, friendly, and very good value youth hostel with rooms and dormitories

This is one of the most attractive youth hostels in the country, very well equipped and warmly run by Thöra Gudmunðsdóttír since 1975. The hostel consists of two locations: one on the heights of the city with a beautiful view of the fjord, the other in the city in an old wooden house that was once a hospital. Several types of rooms and dormitories, with or without bathroom, are available for different budgets. Reservation is required, kitchen available to prepare your meals. Very good quality/price ratio.

Absolutely loved the hot dry sauna. No extra charge. Needs 10ish minutes to warm up if not already on, showers right next to it. Don't miss it if you stay there

Siamo stati una notte in questo bellissimo borgo sul fiordo e abbiamo dormito qui, a due passi dal centro. Ostello molto grande e pulito, parcheggio in loco e spazi comuni top, soprattutto la cucina. Personale gentile come sempre. Torneremmo qui sicuramente

The hostel is generally cozy and equipped in a good style. It is well located and close to the city center. However, the walls are very thin and hence it was pretty noisy until late evening. Unfortunately our room was directly besides the 2 shared toilets on the upper floor which added to the constant noise level (doors banging, stamping on the floor,…). The shared kitchen was rather messy, probably depends on the guests. As we were searching for a rather quite and more private place to stay the hostel is not recommended for folks like us, but is probably nice if you look for a rather active-noisy-family orientated atmosphere.
