Geysir is a world-famous site, and one that all tourists pass through on their visit to Iceland. It is one of the three emblematic sites of the Golden Circle: the Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir geothermal site and the Þingvellir nature park. The Geysir geyser is a sort of valve in a cavity of boiling water heated by the site's volcanic activity, located at a depth of 20 m. It was probably there as early as the 13th century. Its eruptions were majestic: a column of water 40 to 80 m high. Now we have to make do with its artificial cousin, the Strokkur... but you'll see, it's not bad!
