As soon as you hit the road from the airport, you're bound to see the name Vogar crop up again and again. This municipality of just under a thousand inhabitants is a pleasant place to walk along the coast and admire the pretty little church of Kálfatjörn, built in 1891 and considered the largest rural church in the country. Make a stop in town, and walk to the Staðarborg district to admire the remains of an ancient stone enclosure, preserved since 1951 and 8 m wide. It's also possible to see the 80-metre-high Vogastapi cliffs (beware, they're supposed to be haunted!), between Njardvik and Vogar.
