A sculpture emblematic of the capital and one of the must-see photos in Reykjavik
This sculpture is an emblem of the capital and is one of the must-see photos! The Sun Traveller, in Icelandic: Sólfar, was created in 1990 by Jón Gunnar Árnason. This metal skeleton evokes a Viking ship, which is heading towards the sun. Very popular with tourists, you have to come early or late to enjoy it without anyone. At night, from this point, you can also see the light from the Imagine Peace tower on Viðey Island.

Un magnifique monument, très épuré, face à la mer et au mont Esja. A voir absolument à Reykjavík.

Un monument curieux face à la mer. Construit en acier en 1990, il est sensé représenter la silhouette d'un bateau viking au coucher du soleil. Bien que cela ne soit pas exceptionnel, il intrigue et fascine cependant par sa structure et sa position.

Lumière particulière dans la nuit hivernale qui met bien en évidence la structure de la sculpture, avec au fond le faisceau du Friðarsúlan (Imagine Peace Tower), qui projette vers le ciel son rayon lumineux.
