The restaurant-lounge is located in one of Iceland's first large concrete buildings. This building is known as " Apotekið " or "pharmacy", as it housed Reykjavíkurapotek from 1930 to 1999. Design duo Leifur Welding & Brynhildur Guðlaugsdóttir created Apotek kitchen and bar. The concept was to retain the integrity of the building and its history while creating a modern, fun and relaxed atmosphere. Go for the salmon and mushrooms and then save room for the city's best-known pastries.

At Tapas Barinn, you can sample over 70 tapas, salted fish, paella, lobster, puffins and much more. Lamb with licorice sauce and local dates called "beikonvafinn" (everyone has to try them at least once), not to mention the succulent lobster tails cooked in garlic! You can also choose from a selection of main courses. Our tip: for an authentic Hispanic feel, you must try their famous sangria with lots of fruit (fruit from their secret recipe!)

Housed in a former factory, the Heðinn restaurant is the ideal place to discover Icelandic haute cuisine. The cocktail menu is incredibly refined and original, like their Lupina cocktail which combines gin, lavender, crème de violette and white vermouth. The menu offers a choice of skilfully prepared meat and fish dishes with aromatic touches: yuzu mayonnaise, cabbage and celery purée... Open since 2011, the Forretta Barinn restaurant is unanimously acclaimed for both its service and the quality of its dishes. Everything is extra fresh and cooked with taste and subtlety. Although rather upmarket, this harbor-side address remains affordable. The staff are smiling, always ready to respond to your needs, and the establishment is family-friendly. A la carte, we recommend the 4-course menu, available in 3 versions: vegetarian, fish and meat. The drinks menu also offers a fine choice of cocktails.

The Radisson Blu's BRÚT restaurant offers top-quality local gourmet cuisine, and an exceptional weekend brunch! In a pleasant setting, enjoy an all-you-can-eat sweet and savory buffet: fish, cheese, hummus, mixed salads, Icelandic cakes, cookies, macaroons... All with coffee, fruit juices and cocktails to quench your thirst between courses. Although this is not the only brunch restaurant in the capital, we particularly appreciate the varied and well-considered choice of dishes. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

A small café with a big heart! With its direct view of Hallgrimskirkja, Café Loki is not only ideally located, but also offers good food. Hot drinks and snacks are served to keep you warm. For food, there are several Icelandic dishes to choose from, with unique specialties to enjoy. The quantities are correct and the prices reasonable, which does not always go hand in hand in Iceland! If you can, try their uniqueRye bread ice cream, a real treat.

This central address joins a fine list of restaurants specializing in seafood and Icelandic specialties. The establishment, housed in one of the city's oldest houses, is particularly pleasant. The cuisine is of the highest quality in the fusion line of designer service, and also serves sushi. Takeaway is also available. A good value address for local food.

Opened a few years ago, Makake is delighted to reinvent tapas with an Asian twist. In a small, nicely decorated room, come and feast on delicious Asian dishes! From dumplings and ramen to chicken katsu, you'll find a wide variety of hot dishes and gourmet side dishes in generous quantities. The restaurant also regularly organizes events such as Dumplings Night to showcase its dishes, and takes part in local festivities such as Fishermen's Day in June.

Why not eat Thai food in Iceland? As incongruous as the idea may be, the Krua Thai restaurant has been pleasing locals and tourists alike for years. This small Thai restaurant is located not far from the harbour and right next to the bus station. Seen from the outside, it doesn't look like much, and yet! The portions are copious, to be eaten on the spot or to be taken away and the prices are very soft. As friendly as flexible, the service is unanimous as well as the quality-price ratio of the dishes as good as generous. A delight for the taste buds!

The speciality of this establishment, located in the port area, in the middle of the warehouses, is very logically the fish (and everything that lives under the water in general!). In a simple and fresh setting, you will taste the plokkfiskur (local haddock) for 900 Kr, fish cakes, day taking with fries, excellent seafood soup or saliverez in front of a large buffet of specialities from the sea (on or off). Democratic rates allow everyone to find their happiness.

This is a small café in a typical Reykjavík neighbourhood, ideal for a break with friends in a friendly atmosphere. A few tables, a simple counter, and a clientele that comes in at all hours to have a drink or to taste what makes the reputation of the place: the delicious homemade hamburgers. We strongly recommend the blue cheese burger. When you taste one of the varieties offered, you understand why the Mac Do in the city centre had to close down! The quality-price ratio is excellent, with reasonable prices for Iceland.

If you're in the mood for a delicious burger in the capital, you can't miss this little building worthy of 1930s Italy. The clock on the little tower doesn't work, but that won't stop you from sitting down in the small circular room where they serve up "real" homemade burgers that are rightly renowned throughout the city. With 11 burgers including a veggie burger, there's plenty of choice. Forget your calorie calculator and imitate the regulars by accompanying them with creamy shakes!
