RESTAURANT SABA

World cuisine restaurant
3.8/5
4 reviews

A small and pleasant local restaurant where you can enjoy Yemeni style fish (fish with spices and cooked in a traditional oven), seafood (and even fish soup) or salads. The menu is quite varied and will appeal to all appetites. The portions are generous and the products always fresh. Many regulars at lunchtime on the terrace or in the air-conditioned room (a little dark). Excellent fruit juices. The traditional breakfast is a must to discover. Good value for money. And impeccable service. An address to remember.

PIZZAIOLO CLUB HOUSE

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€
3.6/5
16 reviews
Open - from 08h00 to 01h00

The Pizzaiolo Club House has become the icon of the Haramous district, the meeting place for regulars. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is good to drop in to change your mind on a deckchair around the pool. Nasser, the owner, is brilliantly continuing the adventure launched in 1988 by his mentor and predecessor, a chef of French origin. He offers a varied cuisine, alternating Italian dishes (pasta, risottos, pizzas), meats (duck and excellent burgers), seafood and gourmet salads. He has a branch, Allo Pizza, in the city centre.

LA MER ROUGE

World cuisine restaurant €€
4.4/5
8 reviews

Don't let the façade fool you, La Mer Rouge remains a reference in Djibouti. Here, seafood products take pride of place. Crabs and prawns are excellent, but the star of the show is the lobster. It will be presented to you live before being served to your liking. We particularly recommend the Thermidor or Teriyaki lobster. Or would you prefer it flambéed or in tempura? The restaurant also offers good pasta dishes for the die-hard eaters (stir-fried noodles and homemade ramen). Excellent value for money. To your taste buds!

LES SEPT FRÈRES

World cuisine restaurant
5/5
1 review

The specialty of the site, which has made its reputation throughout the city, is the Yemeni fish moukbassa. Cooked in the oven (it melts in the mouth…), the fish is accompanied by hot cakes and dried fruit purée, honey and bananas. A delight! The decor, however, is very dépouillé, rather ugly when the restaurant is desert.

JANATEYN

World cuisine restaurant €€

A reference for those who want to enjoy excellent Yemeni-style fish, traditionally cooked over a wood fire. It's THE specialty of this renowned restaurant. Carangue, snapper, sea bream: you can choose a whole fresh fish, depending on the day's arrivals. Recommended accompaniment: date or honey galette! Good value for money. A warm welcome and impeccable service in a pleasant, well-kept interior with air-conditioning. We love it and will be glad to come back.

MELTING-POT

Fusion restaurant and international cuisine €€
4.5/5
4 reviews

The Melting-Pot could do with a little refreshing, but it remains a reference in Djibouti, known in particular for its all-you-can-eat sushi evenings. On the menu, Europe, Japan and Ethiopia rub shoulders. There's something for everyone. Doro wat" (a spicy chicken stew of Ethiopian origin) or "potence de dromadaire" (camel meat cooked in an oven using a technique originating in Savoy) are a must-try. For dessert, the chocolate fondue is sure to please gourmets. The outdoor space is pleasant and the atmosphere relaxed.

LE BAFENA

Ethiopian restaurant €€
4/5
2 reviews

In a nice typical setting, with paintings of local artists on the wall, and a corner dedicated to the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, you will taste authentic and tasty dishes. The best Ethiopian restaurant in town, some will say. It is true that the food is very good. Also on the menu, some European dishes. The carnivores who will opt for the "Burgundian" fondue will be delighted, the meat is succulent. The dishes are copious and the service is good. Ethiopian wines and beers are also available to the curious.

LA CHAUMIÈRE

Asian cuisine restaurant €€
4/5
2 reviews

La Chaumière is a very popular place with Westerners for its pub-style bar, but people also come here for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is rather family. The restaurant offers French and Asian cuisine. The "wok" specialties, to be personalized according to one's taste, are very appreciated. The service, according to affluence, can be a little long. The terrace under the arcades, when it is not too hot, is one of the most pleasant of the place. Air-conditioned interior room. A historical and unavoidable address in Djibouti.

LE FIGARO

World cuisine restaurant €€

Another well-known and well-located address. French cuisine (classic without surprise) dominates, but also serves dishes based on more local products as well as more «fast» and international cuisine (pizza, pasta…).

LE SANTAL

Indian restaurant

The Santal has a small reputation for lovers of Indian cuisine and... pizzas. Biryani, chicken tikka, chicken tandoori, naan... the great classics are well represented and appreciated by a clientele of regulars. The thin crust pizzas, cooked over a wood fire, offer an alternative to those who are less fond of spicy flavours. The place is simple and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the atmosphere inside is friendly, the dishes are copious and the prices correct. The room is air-conditioned of course. The restaurant does not serve alcohol.
