Žilina, Slovakia's fourth-largest city, cultivates its youthful, rebellious identity. The university town stretches around a small square square lined with arcades, a rarity in Slovakia, all set in a maze of small medieval streets. Although Žilina doesn't boast any must-see monuments, it remains a very pleasant stopover in central Slovakia, thanks to its lively nightlife, its special atmosphere and its geographical position between Fatras and the Rajecka valley. The town was built and developed thanks to its strategic position. From Žilina, it's easy to access nature and ski in the Snowparadise resort of Čadca.
