Close to Ravello and well signposted, this village has preserved all its character with its small old centre and its cathedral founded in the 11th century. The proximity of the maritime republic of Amalfi had a great influence on its development during the Middle Ages. Gerardo Sasso, founder of the Order of Hospitallers (ancestor of the Order of Malta), was born here. Nearby, the villages of Santa Caterina, Campidoglio and Minuta also have beautiful medieval churches that were largely redesigned in the Baroque period. It is possible to hike along the Valle delle Ferriere and the Valle dei Mulini to reach Amalfi.
