The Breuil basin is a vast basin at the beginning of the Valtournenche, at an altitude of 2,000 m at the foot of the Matterhorn. Famous above all for the famous pyramid-shaped summit of the Matterhorn, the Breuil-Cervinia station was created at the beginning of the 20th century and equipped with large cable cars that go up to the glaciers. Dominated by the majestic Matterhorn, it is linked to Valtournenche and Zermatt in Switzerland. It has 350 km of slopes and is the largest ski area in the Alps. There is also an ice rink Ski area Cervinia - Breuil - Zermatt: 350 km of runs (70% red, 8% black, 22% blue). Altitude: 2050 - 3480 m. This is the highest resort in the Valle d'Aosta, culminating in the Plateau Rosà. It is even open in summer, on the Plateau Rosa and Ventina glaciers. Also very expensive and posh, it offers a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. It is linked to the Valtournenche ski area, and also crosses the border as it is linked to the Swiss resort of Zermatt, giving a total of 350 km of runs, the largest linked ski area in the Alps! Special features: a course dedicated to boarder cross and ski cross, a snowpark located at an altitude of 2,800 m and a free ski pass for children under 8 years old. You can practice heli-skiing or even ski in summer, at the Plateau Rosa.
