Tower located at the crossroads of the ancient axes of the Roman city.
52 m high, the tower is located at the crossroads between the ancient Roman city axes, the cardo and the decumanus. Built at the end of the 12th century, the Tower was for a long time the highest point. In 1848 during one of the revolts against the Austrians, the Tower was used to fire on enemy troops. Later, the Austrians destroyed the internal staircase that led to the top. It was not rebuilt until 1892. Today, it is often an easily identifiable landmark in the panorama. The view from the top is canonical.

A faire pour la vue
L'accès à la tour se fait en ascenseur pour le gros du chemin et ensuite il faut monter quelques marches. Le haut de la tour offre une vue panoramique magnifique à 360 degrés. Il est possible d'acheter un billet couplé avec les autres musées municipaux situés en plein centre eux aussi.

Attention the information given in the description seems obsolete. I was able to access the tower at the end of November 2017 for the sum of 5 € which also includes the museum of Venetian life. Check whether the conditions are the same in tourist times. Attention also to timetables because access is closed on noon time. To do absolutely because the view from its summit is beautiful.
