The arrival is magical, and from a distance the castle inspires and amazes, not unlike Český Krumlov. Mikulov is a charming little border town of less than 8,000 inhabitants, which radiates in the middle of a hilly region, the Pálava foothills, famous for its wines. Dominated by a perched castle, the small historic center is worthy of being on the front page of a postal calendar, so much so that it corresponds to the image of the ideal village, calm, clean, colorful, flowery. The city is easily reached by train from Znojo (1 hour journey). From Brno, you will have to opt for the bus (1h15) because there is no direct rail link.
