With 55,000 inhabitants, Jihlava is the main administrative and economic center of the region. It is logically less frequented by visitors than its smaller tourist neighbors Telč or Žďár nad Sázavou. But, if you have some time on your hands, don't miss its well-preserved historic center, created when the town prospered from its silver mines and draperies. Jihlava is easily accessible by train from Ceske Budejovice (2h20), Brno (1h30) or Prague (2h). It takes the same amount of time to get to the main train station by bus.
