Only a dozen kilometers from Brno, Rajhrad was founded in the 9th century and was the site of a large fortress that disappeared after the fall of the Moravian Empire. Little is known about the history and development of this town of less than 4,000 inhabitants, except that at the beginning of the 11th century, monks moved here and built the large monastery for which the town is still known today. It was completed in 1031 and can be visited. It is still in activity and there is a great fervor during the pilgrimages, which continue to mobilize regularly several tens of faithful.
