The town of Písek is located on the Otava River, in the center of a region rich in tourist attractions. The town itself is pleasant with a well-preserved city center. It is difficult to spend several weeks here, but it is possible to stay here for a few days to explore the surrounding area (Orlík, Zvíkov, Blatná, etc.). The town is known for its bridge, the oldest in the country (dating from 1265). The name of the town means "sand" in Czech, but there are no dunes or beaches... The name comes from the sand in which the gold that was mined in the region was "hidden".
