Cheb (Eger in German) is only 5 km from the German border and enchants with its picturesque streets and squares. This border location has made it a hotly contested city, but also a prosperous one at the crossroads of trade routes. The influence of the big neighbor is evident in the architecture as well as in the mentality. The German population was expelled in 1945 and it is only today that the city is beginning to regain a number of inhabitants comparable to that of that time. It would be a shame to limit a visit to the region to the spa towns; Cheb alone is worth a short stay. You won't be disappointed!
