SYNAGOGUE (SYNAGOGA)

The synagogue in Jičin was built in 1773. It's a really small building, but if you're ever in the area, go there. The interior was repainted in the classical style, following a fire in 1840, for a rich result that contrasts with the sobriety of the exterior. As with most synagogues in the country, there is a sense of abandonment as the Jewish community has all but disappeared, but the staff is passionate and will help you interpret the different levels of reading the decorative classical paintings.
