A spa town and winter sports resort, Janské Lázně is located on the edge of the eastern part of the national park, at the foot of the easily recognizable Černá Hora mountain (1,299 m) with its telecommunications antenna. Janské is an interesting gateway to the national park and one of the three star ski resorts in the region (and thus in the country). It is very popular in winter and therefore it is important to book your accommodation well in advance. Transportation is frequent and fast from Trutnov and reaching the city is not really a problem as soon as the first snow falls. Homestay accommodation works quite well.
