This little gem is located at the northern end of the modest but beautiful Orlické mountain range and not far from Lake Rozkoš. Since 1950, it has been a very well-preserved, picturesque urban reserve, which, with its slightly perched square and elegant castle, charms all those who stray from the most popular routes to visit it. It was "born" in 1501, chosen during a hunting trip by an aristocrat who immediately appreciated the site: a rocky promontory nestled in a bend of the Metuje river. Sold to the Pernštejn dynasty, it was rebuilt as a permanent structure and adorned with beautiful Renaissance mansions with arcades.
