This small village is located about 30 kilometers southeast of Hradec Kralové, to which it is connected by frequent bus shuttles (about 30 to 40 minutes) or by trains. The first settlements were established around the castle from the 13th century onwards, but only a few really interesting houses remain. The main reason for traveling to Častolovice is now mainly related to visiting the beautiful Renaissance castle. In the past, there was a hospital here with a 17th century chapel, this building was unfortunately destroyed in 1985 to make way for the road crossing and the bridge construction.
