At the end of your walk through the valley, visit the Sázava Convent, a magnificent Baroque complex, one of the first Slavic liturgical convents, founded in the 11th century by the monk Procop who lived in the surrounding forests. The latter is said to have been urged by Prince Oldřich to establish a convent and he granted him land for this purpose. First occupied by Slavic monks during the first part of the 11th century, the place was later occupied by Latin monks.
