Slapy, 35 km south of Prague, is the name given to the dam that separates the Vltava from a large reservoir, 44 km long and containing 270 million cubic meters of water. Its main function is to protect Prague from floods, but also to entertain the many vacationers during the summer months. Slapy is a very popular destination for the Prague bourgeoisie, as well as for Czech and Dutch campers who have been passing the word for several years. And there's plenty of reason to do so! A paradise less than an hour from Prague with its clear waters, numerous islands on the lake, numerous water sports and boat trips.
