This peaceful village of dachas 30 km south of Moscow is home to the estate and death place of Vladimir Ilitch Ulyanov, alias Lenin. The place has all the modern comforts of the time with an electric power station, a direct telephone line, bathrooms etc. In the middle of a pleasant park you can visit Lenin's main mansion, his apartments in the Kremlin reconstituted on the spot or his car garage. There are also several museums, the most important of which is the Museum of Peasant Life, which exhibits pre-revolutionary rural life in contrast to the modernist refinement of the neighbouring mansion.
