In 1934, on Gorky's advice, this complex of dachas located 30 km southwest of Moscow (40 min) became the "city of writers". It is the holiday resort of the Russian intelligentsia and a great idea for a getaway in the direct vicinity of Moscow. The landscape is restful, with birch woods and hilly meadows: it is easy to understand the enthusiasm of many artists for this place. Boris Pasternak spent the last years of his life here and was buried in the local cemetery. You can visit his house-museum, listen to one of the many concerts that take place in the summer or simply enjoy the country setting in the summer.
